Official Records include court judgments, deeds, liens, marriage licenses, mortgages, plats and tax deeds. Digital images are available of documents dating back to 1968 (marriage license listings date back to 1909; plat and right-of-way maps date back to the late 1800's).
How do I access the records?The recording department is responsible for processing and preserving documents presented for recording as public record. These documents are received over-the-counter, by mail, and through eRecording. Most records are open to the public and certified copies of most documents of record are available for a fee.
What services does the Official Records department provide?Approximately 25 million documents have been recorded in the Official Records since 1846 and 2,000 new documents are recorded each day. In addition to recording documents, the Recording Department collects money for documentary stamp taxes, intangible taxes, recording fees, and other miscellaneous fees.
