The 50 State Quarters Program was started to support a new generation of coin collectors, and it became the most successful numismatic program in history, with roughly half of the US population collecting the coins, either in a casual manner or as a serious pursuit.
What state Quarters are the most valuable?In a PF 70 grade, the Delaware silver S coin might be the most valuable, as coin pricing and research site Greysheet has the collector's price guidance value (CPG) pegged at $585. In a PF 69 grade, the silver Delaware quarter is worth $40.50. Another valuable silver S quarter in that set is the New Jersey piece, with a CPG at $108 in a PF 70 grade.
What are the 50 State Quarters?The 50 State quarters (authorized by Pub.L. 105–124 (text) (PDF), 111 Stat. 2534, enacted December 1, 1997) was a series of circulating commemorative quarters released by the United States Mint. Minted from 1999 through 2008, they featured unique designs for each of the 50 US states on the reverse .
Are state Quarters worth collecting?The coins honor a site of "natural or stork significance" from each of the fifty states, the five territories, and the District of Columbia. State quarters are still circulating and can be collected right out of your pocket change. Therefore, most circulated examples are only worth their face value of 25 cents.
